    3. Looking for the death date and burial of George Washington Surbaugh. He was enumerated in the 1880 Wapello County census but by 1885, his wife Irene was a widow. Anyone researching the Surbaugh line? Vicky

    3. Hi Vicky and Wapello County searchers ... The name "Surbaugh" has often gotten mixed up with SURBER. And the name "George Washington" had been extremely popular in the Surber family. A couple of different branches of the Surber family have been in Iowa since about 1850. My grandfather (b. 1860 in Keokuk County) was named George Washington SURBER. I grew up in both Keokuk and Wapello County, and lived in Ottumwa for many years. Lots of us around Ottumwa. What else do you have on SURBAUGH, Vicky? I am interested in this family too and have accumulated a few things on them over the years.
