Da Date: 10/4/2003 at 07:08:51 Surnames: DICKERSON,DUTON,ROACH,WORTHINGTON,DAYTON,HALE My main interest is in the Robert J. Dickerson that married Laura Frances Hale 22 Oct 1872 in Mahaska County, IA. They are both our "brick walls" and no leads, conclusive or nonconclusive have been found. Just a "dead end"! Family rumors have Laura also as Laura Worthington (?)! Laura is to have been born in IN, while her parents are born in TN (data is from census reorts). Any information you may have on Robert or Laura will be greatly appreciated. Robert's 2nd wife was Alice Roach daughter of James Roach and Mary E. Dut(t)on (IA, OH, DE). Mary E.'s father was James Dutton of Marion County, OH, born in DE 1830. Thank you for your interest and quick resonse. Weldon W. and Marcyl A. Howel Date: 9/26/2003 at 13:07:42 Surnames: DICKERSON,DUTON,ROACH,WORTHINGTON,DAYTON,HALE Stephen J. Dickerson was the third son of James C. Dickerson and Elizabeth Trent Dickerson. Mary Celestine Dickerson was the third child of Stephen J.Dickerson and Sarah Elizabeth Beatley. Mary married William Le Ray Van Horn. I have information on where they died, children, etc. However, I do not believe that any of these people were related to the other Dickerson family that was living in the Ottumwa area at the time. When I first starting researching the Dickerson line (my fraternal grandmother was named Mary Alice Dickerson) I had the Robert Dickerson family included but further research has failed to show any links between the two families. If you are interested in the James C. Dickerson family out of Hancock County, Indiana; Schyler County, Missouri; and finally Wapello County, Iowa I have much information that I can share. If, however, you are looking for the Robert J. Dickerson family (Is this the Robert that married Laura Hale?)I have a little information, some obits, etc. - but nothing that links them with my Dickerson line. We do however have Robert as a family name. *************************************************************************** This is an automatically-generated notice. I don't recognize the Dickerson names you mention -- but I do have a connection to a Dickerson family who lived in Ottumwa in the 1940's and for many years prior to that. I believe this family had been in Iowa since the 1850's. If this sounds like a possible connection, please let me know. Jeanne Surber surberj@earthlink.net > MESSAGE: (#36423) Stephen J.
