J. Fitzpatrick Philadelphia - An early pioneer village on the southeast corner of section 2 of Lick Creek township, near or by the Des Moines River, at the sight of an Indian camp in the vicinity (west) of the mouth of Lick Creek. It was founded in July, 1839, by John Patchett, and named Philadelphia, apparently after the city Philadelphia. This name it retained for many years and then was changed to Kilbourne.
