By the late 1850's some of these COVERTS had moved on and settled in MO, KS, NE, etc. Most, if not all, were farmers. I am not sure if any went through Iowa...but that certainly is possible. My gg grandparents Andrew FRANKLIN and Catherine COVERT probably met in KS circa 1861. I am not familiar with the David COVERT you mention. When and where was he born (from your census records)?
