Does anyone have an address and telephone number for Bentonsport Cemetery. I have at least four Hancock ancestors there and would like to find out if there are any more there. Thanks to the post regarding the Van Buren County, Iowa D.A. R Grave Records 1936 I found where my gg grandfather’s 1st wife Elizabeth Pittenger Hancock is buried and when she died (2-26-1852). I know he moved to SF, Calif after his wife’s death, but I can’t find their three children anywhere as yet. The wife was buried with relatives that all lived in Bentonsport, Van Buren Iowa at the Bentonsport Cemetery, even though she and John (aka Jonas) actually lived in Keokuk, Lee Co., Iowa at the time of the 1850 Iowa Census. I did find out today that there was a cholera epidemic in Lee County around 1852, so perhaps the children died around this same time frame, in Lee County or Van Buren County. I am hoping that the children may also be buried with the mother in Bentonsport Cemetery. Does anyone know if this DAR list is a complete list of burials for this cemetery or just a partial list?
