Sewell was born in Butler County Ohio in 1832. He moved with his family to Van Buren County, Iowa in 1838. He was raised on a farm. He was married in 1856 to Margaret Baker, a native of Iowa. Any information anyone has on either Margaret Baker Sewell or Ely Sewell would really be appreciated. I would really like to know who Ely's parents were.
