Hales of Tucson, AZ. This huge listing contains thousands of names and is the work of more than 30 years by Mr. Hales. It can be found on the web page as . Marian Cox has inquired about the CHRONICLES's accuracy of the Van Buren County Hales. Several years ago I submitted the CHRONICLES data on my great grandfather, Thomas Hales (1822-1904), his descendants and ancestors back to Hugh Hales, Jr. (ca1737-29 April 1817). My data is sourced from a family bible, wills, estates, cemeteries and a lifetime of research and travel. I have since added a Hugh Hales, Sr. (ca1700-1749) to the line after finding his estate proceedings in Annapolis, MD. Mr. Hales work in the CHRONICLES is quite accurate and while there may be a few typos and places where new findings have not been added, most of us agree that all genealogical work it is subject to review. Back to Van Buren County and Thomas Hales (1822-1904); It may be helpful to list a few of the more closely connected married surnames that I have connected to his family by way of Hales daughters: ALLEN, ALLEXANDER, AMEND, BOYLES, COFFMAN, COX, CROWELL, HALL, HERRINGTON, JACKMAN, JEWELL, KEENAN, MANSFIELD, MATTHEWS, MILLIGAN, RANDALL, SIMPSON, TAYLOR, VANTIBURGH, WESTFALL, WRIGHT Needless to say there are many many more. I have a copy of a book "The Family of Hugh and Mary Hales" by Robert Hale (note spelling) with hundreds of names. This publication is on file in the Library of the Historical Department of Iowa in Des Moines. (929.2 H137 Vol II) As always I am willing to share information. Charles E. Hales
