    3. Posted on: VanBuren Co. Ia Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ia/VanBuren/11270 Surname: Smith, Schultz ------------------------- I'm afraid I can't help you with the cemetery you're seeking, but I believe that at least some of the information you have is likely to be correct. One of my wife's great, great grandmothers was Hester Catherine Schultz Smith. According to information gathered by my wife's family, Hester moved with her husband (Peter C Smith) and family from Pennsylvania to Van Buren County, Iowa in 1849. They moved to Missouri in 1855, but eventually moved back to the Cantril area. My wife's family agrees with you about Hester having died in 1886, but they have her date of birth as September 4, 1808, rather than 1811. I'll be happy to share any additional information I can, although most of what little I have relates to Hester's descendants. I'd also, of course, be happy to obtain any information you can share about Hester, her descendants, any siblings, or her parents.

I have a couple of unattached Elizabeth's. Do you know her parents? Any other children? Birthdate of Elizabeth? I do not have any Wollam"s in my database. I know that I have come across that name before because your Araminta name stands out. Look forward to hearing from you. Sherri

Rich, do you know whether the town of Cantril is in Jackson Township? Cantril, laid out the town of Nickleville in the southwest part of the county. In 1871, he sold land through the town to the Iowa and Missouri State Line Railroad, thus assuring the town's life. He also changed the town's name to Cantril. Connie Street ckcasey@louisacomm.net "A mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimension." 2. Hi Rich, My interest in Van Buren County stems from my Grandfather and Great grandfather. Grandfather James Arthur Gardner b. 1881 and all of his siblings were born in Vanburen county, Iowa. His Father was listed in the 1880 Iowa census as RJ, Mother as Sarah. Another census (Missouri 1900) lists him as Robert. An older family member told me that her records show him as Thomas, although she would not send me copies of those records. I am assuming his name is Robert Thomas and the 1880 census just got the initial wrong. Mother in law, Mary Campbell, was living with them in Iowa in 1880, so again I am assuming Robert's wife was Sarah Campbell Gardner. I believe the Gardners are the only one of my families that came from Iowa. Other surnames on my side of family are: Cardwell, Moore, Brown, Gibson, & Burlingame. I have been working on this family for several years and have no luck at all on getting any further back than Robert. Robert was born 1846 in Iowa, but have not found a Robert with a family in any of the earlier census'. If I can find a connection out there somewhere, I have lots of information on the generations down from these men. I live in Missouri not to far from where my ancestors settled when they left Iowa. Thank you for your inquiry. I hope some one can give me some help. Pat ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
