    3. There is a web site devoted to census lookups, but 1900 Iowa is not one of those offered. http://www.rootsweb.com/~uslookup/ I've asked for census lookups around the country on a number of occasions myself, sometimes with great success. Let me assure you, the "thrill" is still there. However, I'm not aware of a surname index to the 1900 Van Buren Co census so a lookup for 1900 is not practical without more to go on in my opinion. Even if the township was known, a lookup could potentially take hours of research. In this case, a rental may be your best bet. 3. To do a census lookup, all you have to do is go to your local library and ask for an interlibrary loan. If that is not possible, the censuses can be rented. If you don't do the basic research yourself, you will have no fun finding your ancestors. Ia Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ia/VanBuren/11284 Surname: BUSH, FISK, BRESSLER, SPROUT, JOHNSTON, WESNER ------------------------- Can you help me find my grandfather's family? A 1900 IA Census lookup would be a great help. Nathan Jerome Bush m. Cora Auralia Fisk in Whiteside Co., IL 18 Oct 1888. Nathan was the son of Henry Bush and Elizabeth Bressler. Cora was the dau. of Erastus Hiram Fisk and Dency Auralia Sprout. Nathan and his bride appear to have moved to Iowa, as I have photographs and other evidence that puts them in one or more of the following locations: Van Buren, Jackson Co., Iowa Birmingham, Van Buren Co., Iowa Fairfield, Jefferson Co., Iowa Nathan and Cora had at least five children: 1. Beulah I. Bush, who m. George D. Johnston 25 Dec 1910 in Van Buren, IA 2. Norris Fisk Bush, who m. Ethel Eugene Wesner in Henry Co., MO 3. Norvelle J. Bush (male) m. Gertrude [UNK] 4. Phoebe Bush m. ? MILLER 5. Gladys Bush m. [UNK] The records I have located so far are unclear: Family lore is that Norris was born in Birmingham, which I see is in Van Buren Co. An LDS record states Beulah was b. in Van Buren, which is ambiguous - it could be the town in Jackson County, or it could be the county of Van Buren. A baby photo of Norris was taken in Fairfield, which is in Jefferson County. And to top it off, a photo of Cora's aged mother holding what appears to be a very young Beulah was taken at the "Porter Studio", "Birmingham, Neb.", which completely confuses me. I can't locate such a town, and wonder if it was a printer's error! Your assistance would be greatfully received.
