    1. [IAVANBUR] Carefull On Attachments
    2. Rich Lowe
    3. Just a note of caution to everyone to NOT open attachments which come to you with an email unless you know >both< who it is coming from >and< you are expecting an attachment from them. There are a bunch of new virus/worms going around right now that are very sneaky. I have received three different known viruses as attachments in the mail today alone. I recognized them and didn't open them. I've also alerted the senders in the two cases where I could determine from whose machine it was sent. Two came from folks (listmembers) who, I know, don't know they are infected and don't know that viruses are being sent out coming from their email address. They've been unsubscribed for now until their PC's are cleaned. I'm not looking to open a discussion on this subject but just cautioning everyone to NOT open attachments unless you scan them with a current updated virus program. If in doubt, DON'T open it! Feel free to write me privately, off list, if you have any questions. 3. Posted on: VanBuren Co. Ia Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ia/VanBuren/11383 Surname: Sewell ------------------------- The information I have on my great grandfather E. M. Sewell came from William G. Cutlers History of the State of Kansas. The only thing that it is says in regard to Van Buren County is that He was born in Butler County Ohio, May 10, 1832 and his parents moved to Tazewell County IL in 1835 where he lived until 1838 when he went to Van Buren County, Iowa. He was raised on a farm. Married in 1856 to Miss Margaret Baker, a native of Iowa. They have three children, Clyde B., Robert E. (my grandfather born in Council Grove, KS) and James G. this information is in a biographical sketch about Simcock and Sewell who were dealers in a general line of groceries, queensware, etc. The Sewell in this article is my great grandfather E. M. I am unable to find any mention of E. M. (Ely) in the Iowa records I have researched. I agree there are some similarities with your family but am not sure if there is a connection as I can find no mention of Ely anywhere. Thank you for responding and if you find there is a connection somehow, please let me know. I do know that he went to KS in 1846 where he embarked in the Indian Trade until 1854.

    3. Posted on: VanBuren Co. Ia Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ia/VanBuren/11381 Surname: Sewell, Crain ------------------------- I am not aware of a connection but there are some similarities to my line. My gg-grandmother Nancy Crain Johnson's sister, Mary "Polly" Crain married first John Johnson, brother of Nancy's husband. John Johnson died and Polly then married David Sewell. The Johnsons and Crains came from Dauphin Co. PA, then through Warren Co. OH and then Fountain Co. IN before coming to Van Buren Co. They arrived in VBCo in 1837-38, the same year as your Sewell family, however, David Sewell died in Fountain Co. IN in Aug. 1838. I believe they married in OH as their son David was born in OH in 1823. David Sr.’s wife came to join her sister in VBCo shortly after his death apparently. Another sister who married a Ward also came to VBCo. I don't have any info on David's parents or siblings but would like to hear more if you feel there might be a connection.
