    3. Posted on: VanBuren Co. Ia Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ia/VanBuren/11442 Surname: Franklin, Hornbaker ------------------------- I am looking for info on a Mabel Franklin that was married to my great grandfather, Clarence Hornbaker for a short time. I know they were married May 30, 1901 in Van Buren Co. sw of Bonaparte or se of Vernon near a place known as Vernon Praire. They had two sons: Franklin born Feb 15, 1902 and died Feb. 17, 1902 and Charles Robert born May 9, 1908 and died July 19, 1908. They are both buried in Thompson cemetery sharing a stone. He had to get a divorce declared as they did not know where Mabel was for her to sign the papers. I think it was in 1910 and he remarried in 1911. Anyone know of her or her family or the story behind her. No one seems to know anything about her. Thank you.

Ia Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ia/VanBuren/11440 Surname: EARHART, LOWE ------------------------- I'm researching my husband's Earhart family, and am stuck finding the family of his grandmother, Margaret Jane Lowe (Mar 17, 1849 Ohio - Sep 22, 1901 Iowa), who married Jacob Henry Earhart (Dec 15, 1849 - Mar 3, 1901 Iowa). Their family lived in Van Buren and Wapello Co., and they are buried in Eldon Cemetery. I don't have any confirmation of Margaret's father's name, but she stated on census records that he was born in New Jersey. I do know that she and Jacob were married April 9, 1868 in Van Buren Co., Iowa, at the home of Cornelius Lowe, according to their marriage license. Margaret had at least one brother, John E. Lowe. Does anyone know about this family? Claudia Wiggins Earhart email: svje@netpath.net

    3. Send me a list of the names on the gravestones. I could take the picture with my camera and mail the film to you. I can find the cemetery from the list at the genealogy section in the Keosauqua library. What if the names are too worn on the stone to be able to be photographed? I could make a rubbing or copy the inscription. Let me know what you would like to have. 3. Posted on: VanBuren Co. Ia Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ia/VanBuren/11427 Surname: Fritzinger, Weir ------------------------- VanBuren County Iowa. Dear Mr. Jones, it is quite posible that there is a connection between your Emma Belle Weir and Jacob Fritzinger's second wife Mary Catherine Weir. However, there is a significant differance in their birth dates, which makes it unusual. Mary Catherine was born Nov. 8th 1844 and your Emma was born 19 yrs. later. -which could be posible. Mary was md. 7/5/1880 and died 10/19/1884 in IA. She had two sons. she is buried in the White Cem. in Bonaparte. I'm not sure where to tell you to search. However, If you do find a connection I would be very pleased to know about it. All the info I got on Mary Catherine was from the VanBuren County obituary Forum Web Site. Thanks very much for your response. Bud Burge

    1. [IAVANBUR] My Van Buren Co. Families
    2. Jane Murrow Atherstone
    3. Hello to the List, I have recently subscribed to the Van Buren County list. The families I am researching are Rail and Hootman. I am descended from Benjamin Rail (originally Reigel, Riegle, etc.) and Susannah Mohler through their son Joseph (b 1817) who married Sarah Hootman, (b 1825) a daughter of Jacob Hootman and Mary Christina Shook. I am also researching the Beck family, and I just had a major break- through today on this line! While rather casually looking at the Van Buren County Archives online, I spotted the name of my husband's 2nd great-grandmother, Almaria Beck Smith whose name was given in the obituary of her sister, Jane Beck Willitts. The parents of these children are Leonard and Caroline Beck, according to the obituary. I have a great deal of information on the Rail and Hootman lines, which I will gladly share, and of course, I would like to find out more about the Leonard Beck family. Did Leonard and Caroline go to Washoe Co., Nevada, with Almaria? The other siblings mentioned in Jane's obituary, Nancy Beck Willitts and George Beck, were both living in Livermore, California. Does anyone know where the parents died? Happy searching to all, Jane Atherstone
