Her father and mother, Gilbert and Savina Deborn preceded her in death. In Dec. 1886 she was married to Nathaniel Glasgow. To this union two children were born, Mrs. Carrie Parr and Ruth of Bonaparte. Mr. and Mrs. Glasgow lived for a number of years near Eldon:one year was spent in Missouri and about 12 years near Troy in Davis County. Mrs. Glasgow has been in poor health in since March, 1918. Last September she was taken to her daughter's home to be near the children and recieve their kindly care. Her last illness was about three weeks. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, two daughters, Carrie and Ruth, her step-mother, Mrs. Annie Deborn, four sisters, Mrs. Mary Glasgow, Dacoma, Okla., Mrs. Ida Furtney, Water Valley, Ark.; Mrs. Louise Lanman of near Eldon; Mrs. Nettie Elston, West Branch, Iowa., a brother, Joe Deborn, Eldon, IA, two half-sisters, Mrs. Annie Fite, Eldon, and Mrs. Clara Hemingway, West Branch. and one half brother Clarence Deborn of Eldon. One half brother Hiram, preceded herr in death, and three grandchildren Evelyn, Ethel and James Parr. Besides there there are numerous loved ones and friends. About 36 years ago, Mrs. Glasgow united with the Christian Church. About 8 years ago she united with the M.E. church at Troy. Mrs. Glasgow was a good woman, a faithful helpmate and loving mother. She was never complaining but was always cheerful and kind. In the church where she loved to work she was a very devoted and faithful member, always willingly doing her part. Her pastor knew her as a faithful Christian. She showed to others a beautiful loving Christian character. Thus we might say with the redeemed: "There shall be no maor pain or sorrow for God shall wipe away all tears," we will not call our loved one back to pain and suffering but rather we will live until God says "come" and we will all be united to part no more.

Saturday night, June 2nd was the 6th Annual Bonaparte Historic Cemetery Tour. Several listmembers were in attendance as well as members of the Van Buren Co. Genealogical Society. Being a Bonaparte native, I am admittedly a bit prejudiced. <g> However, this is an outstanding event that draws a crowd from a wide, wide area. The tour lasts approximately 1 1/2 hours and features area citizens, dressed in costumes of the period, performing at "graveside" as a variety of "late residents." See photo at: http://bonaparte-iowa.com/ I was please to find my gg-grandmother, Nancy Johnson Rabb was the third stop on the tour this year. She came to Van Buren Co. in 1837. Her story mostly concerned her 2nd husband, Joseph Rabb, and the wooden tombstone that he, in his in his Last Will and Testament, instructed be built to his specific instructions . His Will and a photo of his wooden tombstone can be found at: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ia/VanBurenWill/14 The Genealogy Society had a table set up with all their publications on display including the brand new Bonaparte Cemetery Book which has an every name index, maiden names, etc. of every "resident". A list of all their publications is at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~iavanbur/forsale.htm Again, if you have not participated in a cemetery tour such as this, I'd highly recommend it. In fact, the folks at Milton in Jackson township will be having their first such tour on June 30th. The Van Buren County Obituary Board has reached a milestone tonight with the posting of the 2,000th obituary! The honor went to . . . who else, but Karen DaPra of Michigan who has posted nearly 900 of those 2,000. As Karen recently said, "I've personally not come across another county that has so many obits posted. It feels great to be able to keep increasing the number! Sure goes alot faster with so many volunteers posting." If any listmembers have not yet posted obits of their ancestors where available, please do so now. Many connections have been made through our obituary boards. Please contribute your information so others can find you!
