    1. [IAVANBUR] WILLIAM A. HARBIN IN SUNNYSIDE CEMETERY
    2. Joan Marie Meyering
    3. Can anyone tell me anything about the William A. HARBIN in Sunnyside Cemetery, Jackson, b 1851 d 1930? I don't believe he belongs to the same family as the other HARBINS there. Would really appreciate information from a funeral director or an obit about his family. I think he was living alone in Milton in 1920. Thanks for any help. Joan Marie way out in Oregon

    3. The 1860 census transcription project competed early this year has proven to be a popular stop on the Van Buren Co. GenWeb site. On behalf of all researchers, we again want to thank Fran Hunt, Marian Cox and Sharon Franklin for their work to help make this possible. We now are moving on to new projects for 1870 and 1880. Transcription and proof reading volunteers are needed once again. If you are interested in helping, please visit the links on the web site and let us know if you would like to lend a hand. 1. Re: [IAVANBUR] Family History Links]
    2. Robert L Webb
    3. Dear Rich Lowe, Thank you for helping me. Please excuse me, I got ahead of myself. I thought I was already subscribed to the county list when I sent the message but then realized I was not. For the past 30 years I have been gathering church records and now have them in a library (a brick building here in Carthage) where they are safe from fire, and under controlled conditions. We are constantly seeking for more records. I have also been writing the history of Primitive Baptists (originally known as Regular Baptists) in Illinois and Iowa, and some other surrounding areas. I finally decided that the way to share this information with others was to put it on the internet on our own website, so that is what we are doing. Many of the members were very early pioneers in both states as well as other states. I realize that our information is not strictly speaking genealogy - it is not family sheets, documented dates of birth and death, etc., but since we have a building full of church books and periodicals which contain obituaries of thousands of our members, etc., I think we have a resource that may help some few at least. No doubt this will raise more questions than give answers, but anyone wondering about our work is free to ask. I have lived all of my life in Hancock County, Illinois and Des Moines County, Iowa. For about 14 years I pastored a church in Wapello County, Iowa. I am a CPA, and make a living that way. I was ordained as a Primitive Baptist minister in 1978. My ancestors have been members of this denomination since before 1818 in Illinois. I am married and have three fine children. My work on church history and records is purely volunteer, I receive no pay. Sincerely, Robert Webb ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! However, I thought some of you may find it of interest and might be able to help him in this project. If so respond to him directly at the address shown. The link in his message may appear as broken and you need to make sure it ends with "html" and not "htm" Another more direct route to the Iowa part of this site is: http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/FamHist-Iowa.html I know nothing more about this individual or the project. 3. Hi, Thanks for your response to my posting. My great-grandfather was Harry Ruark, b. 1891 Farmington, Van Buren Co., his parents were Isora Leavitt Ruark & John Ruark. My "Isora" and your "Cora" sound a lot alike. Do you know any dates for your Cora, John and Harry Ruark, do you know if they lived in Farmington? My John Ruark's father was James Ruark (born 1841 or 1842, died 1924), a Civil War veteran who was married three times and had many children. Which is your Ruark line? My great-great-grandmother Isora Leavitt Ruark was born in 1871 in NH, daughter of J. Frank Avery Leavitt & Lucy Carroll. These Leavitt's had been in NH since the late 1600's, and were closely allied with the Cheney family. Does any of this sound familiar? Hope to hear back from you soon.
