    2. Oregon Rain
    3. We may have finished with Halloween, but we still have ghosts that need to find their families! IAGenWeb has counties that need coordinators to assist those ghosts, and the living, to find their families. It takes the special love of our ancestry to help others in the discovery of theirs, and that's the first qualification of being a county coordinator. The counties available are Audubon, Warren, Lucas, Greene, Guthrie, Monroe and Butler counties - all available for you to visit at http://iagenweb.org/state/colist.php Please contact us at welcome_to_iagenweb@iagenweb.org with your choice of county, and we will see that you have the opportunity to help ghosts find their families! 1. [IATAMA] October Bazaar!
    2. Oregon Rain
    3. Good Afternoon, Iowa genealogists! You are invited to a October Bazaar!! That's right a 'October Bazaar'! Filled with wonderful IAGenWeb counties just waiting for one of you to take them home. No purchase necessary! Just Great fun to be had by all! Each booth at the bazaar displays one of IAGenWeb's six wonderful orphan counties! Our orphans are Audubon, Buena Vista, Greene, Guthrie, Lucas, Monroe and Warren. They come in various sizes, shapes and colors. You'll find something that will please everyone! Each of our six orphan counties are in need of a bit of TLC. Someone who loves genealogy, enjoys giving and likes sharing with others. If you adopt a county, you will benefit other researchers, join a great team of volunteers, as well as have an experience that's both fun and creative. What are the requirements you ask? An Internet connection, a very basic knowledge of HTML, and the ability (or willingness to learn) to FTP (upload) files to a server. Most of us started with our internet connection and a very shaky knowledge (some shakier than others) of the other two requirements. We learned on the job and kept learning, often from each other. There are no dumb questions and there is always someone handy to help answer a question. Many tips and helps are posted on the IAGenWeb Forum for all coordinators. If you're interested in hosting Audubon, Buena Vista, Greene, Guthrie, Lucas, Monroe and Warren counties email us for an application. We'd love to welcome you into our family! It you have an interest in adopting a county and it isn't available at this time you can ask to have your name placed on a waiting list and when your county of interest comes open we will contact you to see if you are still interested. There's a waiting list for every county in Iowa. This invitation is open also to any current county coordinators who would like to adopt a second county. Just email us and we will get an application to you! Conni Mac & Peggy IAGenWeb Welcome Hostesses welcome_to_iagenweb@iagenweb.org

    3. Hello, I am looking for information on my great uncle John Whitmer, who shows up in the 1920 census in Tama County, along with his wife Annie and son George. I don't know if George is still living. He would be 95 years old if he were. John William Whitmer was born May 1, 1884, I believe in Hardy Co. WV. I am not sure whether he stayed in Tama Co. (Gladbrook) until his death or not. Any information on this family would be very much appreciated. Karen Wellman

    1. [IATAMA] [Fwd: [IAGEN] Wanted: Iowa Family Group Sheets]
    2. Oregon Rain
    3. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [IAGEN] Wanted: Iowa Family Group Sheets Date: Thu, 18 Jun 2009 19:56:07 -0500 From: Greta Thompson <bluebear@new.rr.com> Hello! I want to encourage you to add your family group sheets to the IAGenWeb Family Group Sheets Special Project. The IAFGS started in July 2003 and researchers have posted more than 2600 family group sheets already. But so far this year we have just over 50 new or revised submissions. I'd love to see at least 400 contributions by the end of the year, so that we pass the 3000 mark. It's easy. The main criterion for posting is that someone in the family group had to live in Iowa for a time. Please note that I don't post information for anyone born less than 100 years ago without specific information about his or her death, e.g., the date, location, or cemetery. If most of the family has passed away, substitute the word "Living" for those who are alive and don't supply any other information about them. Just use the electronic form to key in your information or the alternate email form to paste in your fgs and send it to me. I'm sorry but I can't accept .pdf files. Still have questions? Write to me! I'll be watching for your family group sheets! Greta Thompson bluebear@new.rr.com IAGenWeb Family Group Sheet Project http://iagenweb.org/fgs/
