Ashley was entering 2nd grade at River Valley Elementary School in Washta. She loved playing with her sister and brothers, cousins and all her school friends. She loved kittens, swimming, volleyball, playing house and driving tractors. She died Sept. 17, 2002, near Moville, at age 7. She was preceded in death by her uncle, Cory Shropshire. She is survived by her mother, Sharleen Duncan and stepfather, Bruce of Correctionville; her father, Charles Shropshire, and stepmother, Darcy of Harlan; her sister, Brittny, and brother, Christian of Correctionville; half-brother, Cougan and stepbrother, Brandon of Harlan; maternal grandparents, Gene and Linda Zahnley of Correctionville, and paternal grandparents, Chuck and Joyce Shropshire of Crystal Lake; step grandparents, Wallace and Lois Duncan of Correctionville; Phyllis Allen of Harlan; Steve and Mardi Allen of Thompson; Anna Allen of Manilla; Chuck and Bernadine Hayes of Portsmouth; and her aunts and uncles, Sharyl and Bryce Sands, David Shropshire, Sabrina and Russ Momson, Camille Duncan, Bob and Laurie Sazama, Bryce and Nancy Duncan, and cousins. Funeral services were held Sept. 20, 2002, at the Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville, with Rev. Sheryl K. Ashley officiating. Burial was in the Good Hope Cemetery in Correctionville. Honorary casket bearers were Jaret Beyers, Anna Duncan, Shelby Gettys, Cory Shropshire, Douglas Allen, Cheyanne Porter, Alicia Wigand-Redenius, Mrs. Hagberg's 2nd grade class, Bryce Duncan, Riley Byers, Bailey Fitch, Megan Gettys and Bob Sazama. Casket bearers were Randy Zahnley, David Shropshire, David Zahnley and Bryce Sands. Barker Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
