Hello list, I've separated my two messages. The other great, great aunt we are researching is MARGARETHE SCHNOOR. She married CARL LAGE on October 2, 1897. I believe in Shelby County, again not sure. Would love to see if the marriage appeared in a newspaper at the time. Margarethe and Carl had two sons named Emil and Hugo. In 1920 the family is living in Harlan, on College Road. I believe Carl might still have been running his general merchandise store by the name of Hansen and Lage. Does anyone have any information on this store? Anyway, I don't know if Carl died between 1920 and 1930, but, Margarethe and her two sons move to California--to Oakland, specifically, in Alameda County. We have many theories--the business didn't work out, so they moved to California. Perhaps Carl died and the two sons decided to strike out for new opportunities in California. Their eldest son EMIL LAGE was (in the 1930 census) an electrical engineer. How interesting. HUGO SCHNOOR, it was noted, was a veteran of WWI. I haven't looked into any of those records yet. I guess we would like to see if there are any marriage records not only for MARGARETHE SCHNOOR/CARL LAGE, but maybe also for EMIL LAGE and HUGO LAGE. Can anyone provide suggestions for us? Thank you.
