Katzer LOGAN - Mass of Christian Burial for Paul Lewis Katzer, 63, of Logan will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Portsmouth with the Rev. Bob Schoeman officiating. Mr. Katzer died Oct. 13 at the Westmont Care Center in Logan where he was a resident for a short time. He was born May 12, 1939, in Panama to Albert F. and Marie A. (Blum) Katzer. He was baptized in Panama and confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Portsmouth. At the age of 6 he moved with his family to Portsmouth where he attended school. He later worked as a farm hand. He moved with his wife to Harlan where he ran a garbage route. He later was a custodian at Clarinda School System. He lived in Huntington Beach, Calif., for 10 years. Survivors include one daughter, Kathy MacRury, and husband, Rob, of Ottawa, Canada; one son, Kelvin, and wife, Pat, of Lakewood, Colo.; three stepdaughters, Ruth, Carol and Patty; one sister, Cecelia Thygesen, and husband, Max, of Harlan; four brothers, Albert M. and wife, Donna, of Rapid City, S.D., Joe and wife, Betty, of Sun City, Calif., Fred P. of Huntington Beach and Jim and wife, Jean, of Persia; five grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren. Prayer service will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. followed by family visitation at Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Portsmouth, followed by lunch and fellowship at St. Mary's Social Hall. (submitted by Vicki King)
