Wingert, 87 July 31, 1915 - Sept. 13, 2002 EARLING - Viatora Josephine Schleis was one of identical twin daughters born to John Schleis and Gertrude Bolster July 31, 1915, in Mapleton. She married Raymond J. Wingert at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Earling, Oct. 4, 1939, and to this union six children were born. Viatora was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church Altar Society and Sewing Circle, the American Legion Auxiliary, Golden Age Club and Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Katherine No. 266 of Earling. She died Sept. 13, 2002, at Little Flower Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at age 87 years, one month and 13 days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Leona Meier and Viola Chancey, and four brothers, Jerome, Raymond, Omer and Sylvester Schlies. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Wingert, who resides at Little Flower Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center; six children, Delores Brokman of Independence; Ronald (Jodie) of Panama; Alice Wingert of Pueblo, CO; Ralph (Jeannine) of Earling; Judy (Charles) Turner of Chatsworth, CA and Mary (Bill) Schwanz of Omaha, NE; 13 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sisters. Marie Higbie of Salida, CO and Dee Murphy of San Mateo, CA; nieces and nephews and other relatives. A Mass of Christian Burial was concelebrated Sept. 18, 2002, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Panama, with the Rev. Jim Brokman celebrant and the Rev. Michael G. Peters concelebrant. Burial was held in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Panama, with James Turner, Brian Hoffmann, John Turner, Mark Brokman, Jeff Spencer, Arnold Smith, Neil Wingert and Wayne Wingert casket bearers. Pauley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
