GUTHRIE CENTER -- Howard L. Schwartz, 72, Guthrie Center, died January 11 at The New Homestead in Guthrie Center. Services were held at the First Christian Church in Guthrie Center with burial in the Highland Township Cemetery, Bayard. Military graveside rites were conducted by Omar B. Shearer Post #124. Schwartz is survived by his wife, Lela; sons David (Tammy) Schwartz of Harlan and Tom of Guthrie Center; daughter Diane (Mike) Buker of Ft. Calhoun, Neb.; six grandchildren -- Bryan, Todd, Derek and Taylor Schwartz and Andrew and Kristin Buker; sisters Grace Hattabaugh of Macomb, Ill. and Helen Kulhavy of Casa Grande, Az.; brothers Ray Schwartz and Kenny Schwartz, both of Bayard; 23 nieces and nephews and many friends.
