Irene Anne Thielen was born in Portsmouth and grew up in Portsmouth and attended St. Mary's Catholic School there. She is survived by her husband, Joe; daughters Judy (Ron) Just, Atlantic; Cindy (Mike) Davies, Anamosa; LaVonne (Blaine) Brown, Tallahassee, FL; sons Jerry Thielen, Omaha; Phil (Mary Jo) Thielen, Omaha; Neil (Joanne) Thielen, Owasso, Okla., Roger Thielen, Phoenix, Ariz.; David (Becky) Thielen, Elkhorn, Nebr.; brother, Ray (Marge) Feldman, Harlan; sisters, Elvera Feldman, Rose (Dave) Daley and Viola Durdon all of Omaha. Thielen of Des Moines, and 24 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray (Marge) Feldman; three sisters, Elvera Feldman, Rose (Dave) Daley and Viola Durdon; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Irene in death were her parents, four brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be from 2 - 9 p.m. with family present from 6 - 9 p.m. and a Parish Vigil Service and Rosary at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 30, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, with Father Dan Seipker officiating. Burial will be at the Atlantic Catholic Cemetery. Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic is in charge of the arrangements.
