Lawrence was born in Kirkman, Iowa. He previously lived in Redline, Iowa, Oakland, Iowa, California, Conway, Ark., and Harlan, Iowa. Lawrence was a motel manager for several years. His wife, Mabel Taylor Gaer, preceded Mr. Gaer in death in 1996. Survivors include his sons, Harold Gaer and wife, Pat, of Harlan and Allen Gaer and wife, Susan, of McCormick, S.C.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home. Funeral will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home with Roy North officiating.
