Eugene was born in Panama, Iowa. He was a farmer, a member of St. Patrick's Church in Walnut, Iowa, and the Knights of Columbus. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Irene (Goeser) Hoffmann; daughter, Rebecca Sue Hoffmann; sister, Agness Hoffmann; and brother, Robert Hoffmann. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Elaine (Greve) Hoffmann; daughters, Karen Dunkelberger of Harper, KS, Nancy and husband Keith Holtz of Avoca, Iowa, Denise and husband Mark Schieber of Kansas City, KS, Sharon and husband Gary Witmer of Grand Island, NE, Jeanne and husband Rusty Wintermote of Montgomery City, MO; sons, Nick and wife Barb Hoffmann of Walnut, Iowa, Jim and wife Maureen Hoffmann of Walnut, Bill and wife Jenny Hoffmann of Denton, NE, John and wife Bobbi Hoffmann of Buford, GA; step-daughters, Janis and husband Eldon Norgaard of Shelby, Iowa, Gwen and husband Bruce Carman of Lusten, MN; step-sons, Pete and wife Stacia Greve of Mifford, NE, Lee and wife Nancy Greve of Hillsdale, IL; sisters, Marie McCarthy of Omaha, NE, Alice Mogensen of Herscher, IL; brother, Harold and wife Bonnie Hoffmann of Hancock, Iowa; sister-in-law, Shirley Hoffmann of Avoca; 41 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Avoca, Father John Frost, Celebrant. Visitation with the family will be open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca. A vigil Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Burial is in Graceland Cemetery in Avoca.
