FOUTS - Pvt., Co. C, 29th Iowa Infantry; enlisted Magnolia, Iowa, on 15 Aug 1862 for three years; died at Helena, Arkansas, 13 Feb 1863 from measles contracted while on the White River Expedition. Enlistment papers note that he was born in Putnam Co., Indiana, and was age 22 when he entered the service. Fouts' mother, Jane, applied for a Survivor's pension in 1891, stating that he was unmarried and childless at the time of his death, and that she had been dependent upon him. Pension was granted. She died 21 Mar 1895 at Missouri Valley, Iowa. (George H.
