Surnames: KRAMER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zk.2ADI/737 Message Board Post: Lawrence Kramer Defiance. -- Lawrence Kramer passed away Monday evening, Oct. 28th, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, following several days illness with double pneumonia. Lawrence Ralph Kramer, the second son of Frank and Cecelia (Schechinger) Kramer, was born February 24, 1921 on a farm near Earling and passed away Monday evening, Oct. 28th, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, following a brief illness At the time of his death he was 14 years, 8 months and 4 days old. He attended the first year of school at Earling, the following year continued his studies at Defiance. He was a sophomore at St. Paul's High, a member of a class of sixteen. He was very intelligent and took a great interest in his studies. He was a favorite among the teachers, being one of the best students in his class. Lawrence was a good athlete. Last year he was a member of the Junior basketball team. He always took part in school activities. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kramer, three brothers, Francis, Gerald and Anthony; six sisters, Irene, Lillian, Rita, Theresa, Dolores, and Leona, besides a host of friends including his schoolmates and his beloved teachers. Four brothers and sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services were held on Thursday morning, Oct. 31, at 9 o'clock in St. Peter's Church with Rev. E. J. Schuman officiating. Rev. Schuman delivered a beautiful sermon which touched the hearts of many. The remains were laid to rest in St. Peter's cemetery besides his infant brothers and sisters who have already gone to their eternal reward. Those acting as pall-bearers were: Anthony and Charles Wageman, Jr., and Virgil Schmitz of Westphalia, Albert Kramer of Earling, Edward Henkelman, Jr. and Alphonse Schechinger of Defiance. All cousins of the deceased except the latter who is an uncle. Those attending the funeral from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wageman and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schmitz and family of Westphalia, Bill Kramer of Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Weihs and family, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Weihs and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kramer and family, Miss Mathilda Kramer and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jans and family of Earling.
