Adam was born in Harlan, Iowa, and previously lived in Portsmouth, Iowa. He attended Westridge Grade School and Harlan Community High School. Adam was employed by Farmland Foods of Denison, Iowa. He was a member of St. Mary Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church of Portsmouth. Adam and his wife, Ashley (Neese) Barta, were married 2 years. Survivors in addition to his wife include his parents, Robert and Margaret "Peg" Barta, of Portsmouth; son, Adam J. Barta Jr., of Walnut; sister, Elaine Barta and husband, Robert Galtewood, of Belton, Texas; grandparents, Jack and Elaine Wendt of Portsmouth and Bill and LaVonne Barta of Harlan. Open visitation today from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Pauley Funeral Home. Visitation with the family tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Our Lady of Fatima in Portsmouth. Funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Our Lady of Fatima in Portsmouth with the Rev. John Dorton officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Portsmouth.
