Do you know where in Shelby County? Through my own reearch, I have found that my gr-grandfather worked for that line, during the same time period in Atlantic, Cass County, Iowa, while his brother, Daniel Daley, also worked for the Rock Island in Harlan, Shelby County. He had the distinction of being the first engineer to bring the train into Harlan, and held that position for many years. But I do not know where to locate the records for the RR.
