Muck was born in Ohio about 90 or 95 years ago-the real date of his birth being unknown to his companion-and departed this life at his home in Harlan, Wednesday morning, September 12, 1917. About 50 years age the departed moved to the state of Iowa, and on Christmas day, 1869, at Lisbon, Ia., was married to Miss Susan Kohl, his now sorrowing wife. After a residence of about six years near Lisbon, the deceased and his companion moved to Shelby county, Iowa, and during this time lived in or near Harlan. One brother and sister, aged people, live in the state of Kansas, and were unable to be present on account of age and decrepitude. I am informed by the sorrowing companion, that the deceased was exceedingly patient and kind during his long illness. It is perhaps needless to say that Robert W. Muck will be missed, not only from the home, but likewise from the community in which he has lived so long. The funeral was preached by the writer, M. Bamford, pastor of the Evangelical church.
