She previously lived in Persia and Shelby. She graduated from high school. She was a homemaker and member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Persia. Her husband, William, preceded Mrs. Matthiessen in death in 1952. Survivors include her son, Rev. Donald Matthiessen and wife, Rosemary, of Sterling, Ill.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Persia. Services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Persia with Merlene Ostebee officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery in Persia.
