Edward was born in Hancock, Iowa, and graduated from Hancock High School in 1940. He served in the Army from March 25, 1943, to February 1, 1946. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Avoca American Legion Post #227. Preceded in death by wife of 56 years, Helen M. Pattee, on October 6, 2001. Survivors include sons, Tom Pattee, and wife, Kathleen, of Avoca, Iowa, Bob Pattee and wife, Lynn, of Humboldt, Iowa, and Daniel Pattee and wife, Bobette, of Frenchtown, Mont.; daughters, Nancy Pattee-McCuen of Omaha, Neb., Mary Bertacini, and husband, Terry, of Oakland, Iowa, and Julie Karns and husband, Todd, of Oakland, Iowa; sister, Arlene Davis of Hancock, Iowa; brothers, William "Swede" Pattee and wife, Norma, of Avoca, Iowa, Wallace Pattee and wife, Shirley, of Shelby, Iowa, Donald Pattee and wife, Carol, of Avoca, Iowa, and Lawrence Pattee and wife, Lavina, of Big Lake, Minn.; 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, March 21, from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca with family greeting friends 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Rosary Service will be Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca with a Prayer Service to follow at 6:30 p.m. Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father John Frost officiating. Burial in Graceland Cemetery, Avoca, Iowa.
