He was born Oct. 31, 1913, in Montpelier to Otto and Caroline Kahler. He attended Treynor schools - graduated from Minden high school class of 1931. He operated Kahler Garage and Minden Farm Equipment. He was a member of Minden United Church of Christ. Mr. Kahler and his wife, Marilyn "Mary" Kahler, were married 56 years. Survivors in addition to his wife include his son, Dennis Kahler, and wife, Shirley, of Minden; daughter, Kathy Kirkpatrick, and husband, Gene, of St. Louis, Mo.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Minden United Church of Christ. Funeral will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Minden United Church of Christ with the Rev. Brian Wohlhuter officiating. Pauley Jones Funeral Home Avoca Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
