He was born November 17, 1935, in Correctionville, Iowa, to Ronald and Frieda C. Elam. Melvin retired from Sheet Metal Workers, Local #3 in Omaha. He leaves behind Mary Joanne, his loving wife of forty years; daughter, Tamara and husband, Dr. Andreas Tillmann; grandaughters, Amanda and Laura Tillmann, all of Armidale, Australia; two sisters, Beverly K. and husband, Steve Griffis, and Velda J. Scott, all of Council Bluffs; brother, Roger L. Elam, of Harlan; many special relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 17, from 6-8 p.m. at Henry-Livingston Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be Saturday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor James Endecott, Church of God Prophecy, officiating. Burial will follow in Calhoun Cemetery, rural Missouri Valley. Memorials may be given to The American Cancer Society.
