Iowa's Oldest Resident Dies February 4, 2003 Nell Lowry Was 109 NORWALK, Iowa -- Nell Lowry, Iowa's oldest resident, died on Tuesday at a nursing home in Norwalk in central Iowa. She was 109. Lowry said she lived a long life because of regular exercise and drinking milk. She outlived two husbands and her two children. Lowry was born in August 1893 and lived in Des Moines most of her life.
