Surnames: FUHS Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zk.2ADI/750 Message Board Post: 27 Aug. 1885 Keokuk Co., Iowa Newspaper Article: A sad accident occurred at the home of John Fuhs', a farmer living in German tp., last Monday morning, in which they lost their little child, by drowning. It seems that its parents went out to attend to some affairs about the place, leaving the child alone. When they returned it was missing, and not finding it around the immediate premises, alarmed the neighbors, who turned out in large numbers to help search. Its dead body was found the same evening about a mile below the house in a slough, and the presumption is that the child started out to find its parents, and had fallen into the water, and was carried away by the high water, caused by the recent freshet. It was only about 3 years old. The parents have the sympathy of the community.
