I am working with a group of Ratenburg/Rattenborg researchers putting together the descendants of one Nicolaus Ratenburgius, a pastor in Braderup, Slesvig, who died in 1667--"at 82 years of age and after 50 years of service, he suddenly bowed down before the altar during a church service and died." I am searching for additional information on this Carstensen family. Most of the information I have found to date initially came from the wonderful Iowa gravestone project. I had been looking for Bodil Schmidt Rattenborg for years and only knew that she probably came to the U. S. with her brother. Once I found her gravestone it was pretty easy to piece this family together with census records. It would be nice to find living descendants of this couple or information on his ancestry. I believe he had a brother, Hans. I have her Ratenburg ancestry in Denmark back to the 1600's. Did Maren, Anna and Botilda marry and have kids? How about the children of Hans in the second generation, did they have kids? Dotty Sprague Cole Lake Mary, Florida Descendants of Nicolaus C. Carstensen Generation No. 1 1.
