Dated Thursday, April 16, 1925 George Rohde Dies At Davenport Home Once Resident of Sherburn Dies at Home in Davenport, Iowa Word has been received here of the death of George Rohde for years a resident of this vicinity. He left this country for Davenport about ten years ago. The following clipping from the Davenport Democrat was sent to the Advance-Standard and we publish it here so that his many friends here may know the particulars. Death occurred to George Rohde Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at his home, 1105 Pershing avenue, terminating a lingering illness, followed by a sudden attack of angina pectoria. The deceased was born at Hanover, Germany on July 28, 1852, and came to the United States, direct to Rock Island in 1871. In 1893 he and his wife, Mary Bertges Rohde, to whom he was married at Rock Island on February 17, 1875, came to Davenport, and for the past 15 years Mr. Rohde has been retired. He was a member of the Lutheran church, and was fraternally affiliated with the A. F. & A. M., No. 221, and the Sons of Herman. Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, Carl A., and Albert E., of Chicago, and George C. of Davenport; two daughters, Mrs. Caecilia R. Crampton of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Gertrude R. Lau of Davenport; two sisters, Mrs. Luther Hann of Rock Island, and Miss Alvina Rohde of Columbus, Nebraska, and one grandchild. ~Volunteer Posting.
