I have found that my great aunt Maria (Mary) Heesch married Claus Krohnke in Scott County in 1870. I cannot find any information about the rest of the family. Her father Steffen, mother Anna, sister Catharina and brother Claus H. were also there. On the 1880 census, I can find Claus and his mother Anna in Grundy county but no record of Steffen or Catharina. I have found Maria's info so she is no problem. There is a Katherine that married in Jan 1870 in Scott County- don't know if that is her or not. She married a Malchow and I cannot find them anywhere. Is there any way I can find out if Steffen died in Scott County? I don't have a birthdate and nothing comes up on the familysearch.org or ancestry.com. I only found him on a ship's list. He was born around 1803 , arrived in the states in 1869 and disappeared! Since the daughters and mother made it to Iowa, I think I can assume he did also. Just wondering if he died in Scott county.
