First I have to ask if you know anything about Jeremiah's dad? We have been running into alot of walls where it concerns him. We know he was a potter from MA and that his wife was a Molly (Mary Bemiss). His name also was Jeremiah. We are researching evidence that his father may have been Job Simmons who married an Elizabeth Howland. They were married in MA in 1797, and by 1801 were in Hancock Vermont. They moved to Middlebury Vermont around 1810. On the 1810 census they have 5 children (4boys and 1 girl) According to the town records of Middlebury they lost a child in 1813 who was only a year old. Then they seem to vanish. We have not been able to locate them anywhere till Jeremiah and Margaret get married in Elkhart County 1837. There was a brief reference in a book about Andalusia to a guy by the name of Samuel Kenworthy seeing Jeremiah and his brother Elijah in Liverpool Ohio. I know the name of three of the children Jeremiah b 1800 Elijah b 1819 Job b 1815, but thats we have been able to find. I have alot of info on the line forward from 1837 to current. Please email me direct! Maria Simmons Kagee

    1. 1847 IA State Census?
    2. Roland Schneider
    3. Hi List, Rootsweb says there was an Iowa State Census in 1847 and has an index of Van Buren County. I tried to subscribe to VanBuren county list, but for some reason it didn't work. Would the IA-Census - Lookup have this census? Did the census list only the heads of household and number in household, and no other names? Thank you, Ruth

    1. Re: [IASCOTT] 1900 & 1902 Democrat
    2. Thank you so much!!!!! I have been trying to see if these things are in the archives of the Democrat, but have not found it. Do I need to send and ask the paper? Everything you mentioned in the 1902 papers I would like to see. The Olin Smith cannot be my father, although that is the correct name, because he died in 1947, so I am curious about that. Eda Vollstedt is my grandmother, so I want to see that. And the Krouses are related and I would like to know what that guardianship is about. Yes, their home was way out on Brady St. and surrounded by Elm trees and called Elmwood Acres. I assume the city directory gives name, profession and address, so that is all there. I thank you so much again and would appreciate your advice for obtaining the details for 1902 references.

    1. Re: [IASCOTT] 1900 & 1902 Democrat
    2. In the 1900 Davenport Democrat, there is a listing for Mr. and Mrs. D.K. Smith for an adoption March 20, page 5. I know it's not "O.K." but it easily could have been a mistake. No other names in 1900. In 1902, there is a J.E. Krouse on a guardianship September 6, page 7. There's an Olin Smith who died..obit on September 30, page 7. (Didn't know what the O.K. stood for...) There is also an obit for Eda Vollstedt on August 11, page 6. No other names in 1902. In the 1931 city directory is John E and Theresa Krouse. He was the president of the Davenport Pearl Button Company and they resided at 4312 Brady Street. In 1931, I'm guessing that house must have been way out. Also in 1931 there is an Olin K. Smith, an engineer, and wife Edna F. at 1704 Davenport Ave. There are a few Vollmers in 1931: Charles K., Fred D., Jacob, Karl, and another Karl. The two Karls were doctors. If you want deatils on any of those, let me know. In a message dated 7/2/04 11:16:32 PM Central Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: Thank you for your offer.
