    3. Hi! I'm trying to find information on my 4th Great-grandparents: Harry HOSFORD and Hannah COX. This tis the information that I have on them: Hannah was born 30 Dec 1804, the family Bible doesn't list a location, but all Census references to her state that she was born in Virginia. Her granddaughter wrote some additional information stating that her maiden name was COX and her parents were Ezekiel (I think, the handwriting was difficult to read) COX and Mary HOFFMAN. Hannah had siblings: Isaac, Sarah, Caroline & Ezekiel. Apparently before Hannah and Harry HOSFORD married, she had been married to a HUMPHREY or HUMPHREYS, because she also lists a son named William H. HUMPHREY(S) in the Bible, with a birthdate of 1828 (again, she did not put in place of birth). Harry HOSFORD was born 10 Dec 1811 in Connecticut (according to Census references). Harry and Hannah were married 9 Jun 1835, possibly in Indiana. They had the following children: Mary Ellen b. 13 Nov 1837 possibly in Indiana. She married J. G. HOLLAND on 9 Sep 1860 in Story Co, IA. Sarah Ann b. 14 Oct 1839 in Indiana, d. 14 Oct 1916 in Blaine, Whatcom Co, WA. She married first Daniel LOOMIS 17 Jun 1860 in Linn Co, IA; and second Abraham N. HESS 11 Mar 1869 in Polk Co, IA. Hannah Isabell b. 8 Nov 1842 in Iowa, possibly in Linn Co. but not sure, d. 6 Aug 1901 in Bellingham, Whatcom Co, WA. She married Thomas Martin Van Buren DAWSON on 27 Jan 1859 in Story Co, IA. I have these questions: I found a Hannah HOSFORA in the 1850 Iowa Federal Census Index, could this be Harry's wife? Was Harry dead then, or was he still alive. She is listed in Louisa County, Columbus (Twp?) page 089 according to the index. Is there a transcription of this Census online? In the Story County GenWeb site I found the following household in the 1856 Census for Story Co: Hannah WARD, age 51, Widowed, b. VA, lived in IA 13 years Sarah A. HOSFORD, age 16, b. IN Hannah I. HOSFORD, age 13, b. IA This looks like my family, but I'd never heard of a third marriage. Is there a record of this marriage of Hannah to a man named WARD? I didn't find it in Story Co's database. Also, in the HOSFORD Genealogy book there is a Harry HOSFORD, son of William HOSFORD II & Sally WRIGHT? who was allegedly a pioneer of Council Bluffs, IA, could this Harry HOSFORD be MY Harry HOSFORD? I know that Council Bluffs keeps popping up in family stories. Thomas DAWSON allegedly ran a hotel in C.B. before moving west. Does anyone know where Harry HOSFORD is buried? It seems like he died before Jun 1850. Any help would be great! Brenda Hébert
