Knight DATE: 10/22/2003 at 23:29:08 Reply To: (#37662) Godfrey in Council Bluff newspapers 1850-1880 Author: Charles A. Godf Date: 10/21/2003 at 16:39:32 Surnames: GODFREY Just as you mentioned, I find the Orlando Godfrey family in Council Bluffs, IA, Pott. Co., in the 1860 census as: Orlando Godfrey, 38, laborer, b. CT Mardula Godfrey, 36, wife, b. CT Charles Godfrey, 14, b. CT Orlando Godfrey Jr., 10, b. CT Girard Godfrey, 8, b. IA John Godfrey, 3, b. IA Tryphosa Thompson, 67, female, b. CT You mentioned that Orlando Jr. was killed in 1878 in a bridge accident. Interesting that I find a man who appears to be Orlando Jr. living in Kansas City, MO, in 1900: Jackson Co., MO, 2nd Ward, Kansas City, 1900, page 237: Godfrey, Orlando H., head, b. Jan 1849, age 51, single, occupation - Tinner, b. CT, father b. CT, mother b. CT. He appeared to run a boarding house as he had several male lodgers living under his roof in Kansas City. I hope this helps you in some way. *************************************************************************** This is an automatically-generated notice.
