Mr. Kjeldgaard was born in Grenaa, Deenmark on April 16, 1893, the son of Mr and Mrs. Christian Kjeldgaard. He married Alma Olhmann on September 30, 1917 at Kimballton, Iowa. He spent the greater part of his life in the Avoca-Walnut vicinity. He was a farmer and also did carpentry work. He was a WWI veteran, a member of the Peace United Church of Christ. He is preceded in death by his wife and nine brothers and sisters. Surviving are two sons, Herluf of El Derado, Arkansas; Axel of Council Bluffs; daughter, Mrs. LaVerne (Doris) Schaaf of Dexter, Iowa; 8 grand children and 8 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Carl of Council Bluffs, Elner of Denmark and Otto of Denmark; a sister, Ellie of Denmark. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 17 at the Peace United Church of Christ in Walnut with Rev. Bruno Romanwski officiating. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery, Avoca, Iowa.
