She had been ill for some years. Alma was born March 3, 1895 at Horsen, Denmark, the daughter of Axel and Frida Olhmann. She came to this country in 1916 with her family, and was married on September 30, 1917 to Svante Kjeldgaard, at Kimballton, Iowa. Their lives together were spent in the surrounding area of Walnut. The Kjeldgaards celebrated with family and close friends on the sixtieth anniversary of their wedding. Mrs. Kjeldgaard is survived by her husband, Svante, two sons, Herluf of ElDorado, Arkansas, and Axel or Council Bluffs, Iowa; one daughter, Mrs. LaVerne (Doris) Schaaf of Dexter, Iowa; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Friday, January 13, 1978 at 2:00 p.m., at the Peace United Church of Christ in Walnut, Pastor Bruno Romonwski officiating. Serving as pall bearers were Duane Kjeldgaard, Don Kjeldgaard, Junior Kjeldgaard, Neal Schirm, Bob Walling, and Howard Kjeldgaard. Interment was in the Graceland Cemetery at Avoca, Ia.
