Higbee in Pottawattamie County on August 11, 1877, and was listed as living in Avoca, IO in the 1880 Federal Census. Alice later became a close friend of Tom Jeffords, who is better known as the "Blood brother" of the Apache Chief, Cochise. She was one of the first female "stampeder" in the Klondike Gold Rush in the Yukon in 1898, was a authoress, and owned mining property in Arizona. However, her life before 1898 is virtually a blank slate, and she was known to fudge details about her life, such as claiming different birth years and birth states. Her one-time lover and business partner claimed she had two previous marriages before her 1894 marriage in California, and that she had a son and was divorced twice before 1894. Frank Higbee was one husband, and she might have married and divorced him twice. If she only married him once, then I don't know whether her marriage to Frank Higbee was her first or second marriage. I have no name or date of birth for her son, no specific date of Alice's birth or divorces or other marriage, or information about her parents and siblings. It seems clear that by 1892 Alice (by whatever last name she was using at the time) was out of Iowa and into the Dakota territories and New Mexico and Arizona territories. Would deeply appreciate any info about Alice and any of the other people, events, etc. mentioned above. Finally, Alice's mother, maybe using the name Rollins, might have passed away in Iowa about 1912-1915. Am looking for any original or copies of any documents (e.g., birth certificates, marriage licenses, marriage applications, divorce papers, death certificates) related to any of the above mentioned family of Alice as well as on Alice herself. Thank you. Bob rjstahl@asu.edu
