Barnett The funeral for William O. "Bill" Barnett, 80, of Underwood will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Boomer Township, Neola, with the Rev. Charles W. Bichel officiating. Mr. Barnett died July 13 at Bethany Lutheran Home. He was born Sept. 27, 1922, in rural Underwood to Ralph M. and Gertrude (Hampel) Barnett. He formerly farmed in the Woodbine, Oakland, Carson and Underwood areas. He moved to Underwood in 1984. He was a 1940 graduate of Underwood High School. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Boomer Township, Neola. Mr. Barnett was preceded in death by his wife, Alma E. (Kortmeyer), on Oct. 13, 1993. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jack Barnett. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Clausen and husband, Glen, of Underwood and Nancy Flattre and husband, Dennis, of Springfield, Mo.; son, Ralph Barnett, and wife, Connie, of Underwood; four grandchildren, Julie Hicks and husband, Dan, Amy Flattre, Kelli Barnett and wife, Paula, Shawna Hedegaard and husband, Michael; four great-grandchildren, Troy and Adam Barnett and Janelle and Rowan Hicks; brother, Bruce Barnett and wife, Virginia, of Underwood; sister, Zola Leonard, and husband, Ivan, of Logan; sister-in-law, Kathryn Barnett, of Council Bluffs; nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hazel Dell Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at St. Paul's Church.
