Christian and Andrea Christensen came to America in the 1870's. They had three children, Axel, Wilhelm, and Asta, all born in Atlantic, Cass County, Iowa. The family moved to Hastings, Nebraska in the 1880;s. Andrea died and is buried in Hastings. Christian and the children disappear from the radar screen. The 1920 and 1930 U.S. Census lists an Axel (1920) and Axtel (1930). The census lists two children in 1920 (Henry-age 7 and William-age 4). Occupation lists Axel as a fruit farmer who is married to Ida. The 1929 Council Bluffs City Directory lists an Axel Christensen on Hunter Ave with (Mary). The Axel I am looking for was born in March 1878 in Atlantic. This Axel Christensen is the ONLY one appearing on either the 1920 or 1930 census in the entire U.S. so there is a good chance this is the Axel I am trying to locate. Where would you suggest I go from here in searching Pottawatomie County and Council Bluffs records??? Would appreciate any suggestions. I am from Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin and get to Elk Horn-Kimballton a couple times a year so I could drive down to C.B.. Kenneth Sand, 318 So.
