The newspapers of Council Bluffs would probably have held info about your naughty ancestor. The Council Bluffs Public Library has copies on file and you can contact them directly at their web site: http://www.cbpl.lib.ia.us/
Also the newspapers will have the "facts" :-) on what took place and possibly even the trial. I have 12 pages of newspaper articles on a murder that my ggrandfather was involved with in 1895 South Dakota. Hello, I found out that a relative was arrested in 1895 for forgery. Where can I find out about the trial and see if he served any jail time? He fled the jurisdiction and was caught in South Carolina. Mark

Hi listers, Just thought I'd give you a "heads-up" that a copy of the History of Pottawattamie Countythat was published in 1975 is being offered on Ebay. Here is the URL: http://cgi.aol.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2916284465& category=20928 This book has a lot of information about early Pottawattamie County as well as biographical info about many families. While it is a "mug book", it can be a big help in fleshing out some of your family members, if they are included. You can e-mail the seller to find out if your family name is included. I purchased one on Ebay about a year ago, and I love it. I go back and refer to it often. Gay (Sivers) Weston

For all of the newbies to our list, and as a gentle reminder to those who are not so new, I thought I would send a little reminder/suggestion message about our wonderful Pottawattamie Co., IAGenWeb web page. You can visit the Pottawattamie County Web Page at www.iagenweb.org/pottawattamie . One of the main ways Gail has of adding information about the county and it's people is YOU. If there is a record you have that you would like to have posted, or a history on an individual, a church, a family farm, or a photograph you would like to see added. If you have a family web site you would like included on the Family webpage. If you have old newspapers and would like to share the articles just send them to Gail. When I say send them to Gail I don't mean for you to give up your records, but you can scan them and send them in an email, or make copies and send them to her, or you can transcribe them and send her the information in an email. REMEMBER.... You are a very important part of Pottawattamie County's history. Your families helped to build the county no matter how long they were there or what the occupation. Don't let them be forgotten. Constance
