Hello Mona: When you have time, would you mind checking the occupations and addresses for my Gparents, Jacob and Hanna Jessen and my parents, Jacob and Anna Jessen. Also, my Great Uncle Jes and Regina Jessen, all from Co. Bluffs. Thank you, Norman Jessen Anaheim, Ca. > But while in Council Bluffs, I was able to purchase 7 City Directories > dating back to the 1920's. I just returned from vacation and spent time in Council Bluffs, Pott. Co., as well as Greene Co., Jefferson, Iowa. What nice people I met at the Jefferson Library, who have turned a room in the library basement into a great genealogy section! They had tons of records there and two nice ladies helped me find the burial place of my ancestor, William Magers and his wife and daughter, at the Junction Township Cemetery. I found the cemetery and burials during a cold downpour of rain......only 58 degrees that day! Sure was a cool change from the 113 degrees I came home to in Phoenix! Stayed at the restored Hotel Pattee in Perry, Iowa, a wonderful place all redone in 1920's arts and crafts furniture and decor. Stayed in "The Quilt Room" which had every conceivable inch covered in real quilts or furniture painted in a quilt motif. Great fun. If you're searching in Greene Co. or Dallas Co. Iowa, be sure to contact the Genealogy Dept. of the Jefferson, Iowa, Library! Council Bluffs Library also has a growing genealogy section which I visited; didn't find anything I needed for my research...But while in Council Bluffs, I was able to purchase 7 City Directories dating back to the 1920's. I had to ship them (too heavy for carry-on luggage!) and they should be in Phoenix next week.........so I can do look-ups for anyone with an interest in Council Bluffs! Hope everyone is having a great summer. Mona Sarratt Knight

My uncle is buried in a tiny cemetery in a tiny community outside CB. I found records at the funeral home. You could try the Yellow Book of Funeral Homes. I wrote a LOT of letters to all the list! Finally got the right info. Hi, I am looking for the obituary of Delmar J. HARRILL (b. 5 September 1920 - d. 15 August 2001). He died in Council Bluffs. Thank you ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sidney G. Dreese
Hello, Is there a cemetery named Council Bluffs in Council Bluffs? I looked on the Pottawattamie County Cemeteries page, but didn't see a cem by that name listed only Cedar Lawn. I have ancestors that I thought were buried in a cem called Council Bluffs and I'd like to request a lookup for an Andrew and Mollie (Mary) BRESSMAN (Brissman/Brossman/Brussman/Brusman). Andrew was born in 1876 in Percival, Fremont Co., Iowa and I believe he died before 1930, but I do not know for sure. (Mollie was also born in 1876, but I don't know where.) I'm hoping some kind person can help me. Thank you. Corrinne __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! DSL - Now only $29.95 per month! http://sbc.yahoo.com
