He had been ill for three weeks with a heart attack and complications brought on by high blood pressure. Funerl services were held in the Assumption church here Wednesday morning. Father Robert Joynt of Fort Dodge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Joynt of this city and nephew of the deceased, officiated at the requiem mass. The pallbearers were Percy Godden, Ray Martin, Frank Meade, Charles Papadakes, Ed Murray and Ira Tatro. The remains were interred in the St. John's cemetery. The Foy Funeral home was in charge. The deceased was born November 15, 1889, on a farm in Emmetsburg township, Palo Alto county. He attended rural schools and was graduated from Emmetsburg High school. He was married May 20, 1913, to Miss Josephine Higley, who with one son, Patrick, 11, survive. He is also survived by his aged mother, Mrs. Caroline Brennan, two brothers, M.W. of Emmetsburg township and Mike of Des Moines, and two sisters, Mrs. Dave Joynt and Mrs. Wm. Pratt, both of Emmetsburg. Mr. Brennan was a talented musician, his instrument being the cornet. He successfully followed orchestra playing and directing for a number of years. Later he took up painting and decorating, and his skill along this line is well known here. For the last 10 years he was connected with the state highway department. Mr. Brennan took a prominent part in band work in Emmetsburg over a long period and did an immense share in providing the concerts enjoyed by the public here. The deceased was deeply devoted to his wife and son and always provided a comfortable and happy home for them from which he will be greatly missed. Mrs. Brennan and Pat, the aged mother and the brothers and sisters have the sincere sympathy of the community.
