Lived Near Houston, Texas Many Years. Last week we made short mention of the death of Myles J. Ryan, formerly of this place, at his home in Houston, Texas. He was a victim of paralysis. He lived only a few days after he was stricken. His son Bert reached his bedside a short time before he passed away. The remains were brought to Emmetsburg Saturday. They were accompanied by Mrs. Ryan, wife of the deceased, and by Bert. The funeral was held Sunday forenoon. A high mass was celebrated in the Assumption church by Very Reverend J.G. Murtagh, who, at the close, spoke briefly concerning the consistent life of Mr. Ryan. The burial was in St. John's cemetery. There was a large attendance of relatives and friends. The pall bearers were P.C. Jackman, James Burns, Dan Burns, Joseph Mulroney, Lou Philips, and Charles Nolan. Mr. Ryan was born a short distance north of Milwaukee in March 1855. He was nearing the close of his 70th year. His parents moved to Delaware county in 1870 and to Palo Alto in 1873, locating on a farm in Nevada township. Mr. Ryan was married to Miss Elizabeth Martin in the old town of Emmetsburg by Father Smith in 1882. Two sons and a daughter were born to this union. The daughter died in infancy. The sons, Joe and Bret, well known to our many readers, survive. Mr. Ryan was married in 1898 to Miss Susan Connor of Rhode Island. Mr and Mrs. Ryan resided in this locality until 1910 when they located some distance from Houston, Texas, later they became residents of that city where they subsequently made their home. Mr. Ryan's death is mourned by his brother Edward of Des Moines and by three sisters, Sisters Climacus and Elanera of Carmel, Dubuque and Sister Mary Benigna of St. Ellen's academy of this city...
