Kane Dies of Injuries Burial Today Mrs. Chas. R. Kane, whose serious injury in an auto collision at the Crippen corner was published in the Democrat two weeks ago, died at her home in Emmetsburg township Monday evening. For several days her condition was not considered particularly serious but the first of the week she took a change for the worse and death finally relieved her from her sufferings. The funeral was held this forenoon. Services were conducted in St. Thomas church to which she belonged, Very Rev J.G. Murtagh officiating in a requiem high mass. There was an unusually large attendance of relatives and friends. Many came from distant and neighboring places to be present at the obsequies. The burial was in St. John's cemetery. The pall bearers were Douglas Brennan, Leo Joyce, Edward Joyce, Harold Bradley, Joe Donahue, and Len Sherlock. Clara Ellen Joyce, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Joyce, who were pioneers in this county, was born in Emmetsburg township November 12, 1888. She attended the local schools and subsequently made her home with her mother, her father having passed away when she was quite small. She was united in marriage to Charles R Kane, February 7, 1912. She leaves her fond husband, two sons and three daughters. They are Marie, 15; John, 13; Paul, 9; Agnes, 7; and Dorothy 3. Mrs. Kane's death is also mourned by her mother, Mrs. M.T. Joyce and nine brothers and sisters-John, James, Thomas, Edward and Joe, Mrs. M.W. Brennan, Mrs. T.A. Hoben and Mrs. Joe Joynt, all of this county and Mrs. Aylward of De Graff, Minnesota. All were present at the funeral. The death of Mrs. Kane is very distressing to her devoted husband, family and friends. She leaves to mourn her irreparable loss a small family of boys and girls at ages when they most need a mother's solicitous, loving care and watchful attention. She had, at her age, everything for which to make the greatest of personal sacrifices. She grew up a community favorite and she was from early childhood endeared to the many who mingled with her and prized her many virtues. She was a sensible, pratical helpmeet and a capable, zealous head of a happy household. She was known as an honored, useful member of a pioneer neighborhood. However, when death comes the brightest of hopes are shattered and the fondest of ties broken. They can never be restored. No one can fathom the mysterious ways of the Omnipotent. The passing of Mrs. Kane is widely and sincerely mourned by all who know her. The surviving members of the family have the profound sympathy of all in the days of sadness that has come to them.
