Merle Kollasch, pastor of St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church officiating. Burial was at West Bend Cemetery. Casket bearers were: Paul Bonnstetter, Frank Mader, Jack Cole, Lawrence Dorweiler, Keith Shellmyer, and Robert Gearhart. Helen (Carter) Marti, daughter of Marshall Carter and Leila Benson was born July 31, 1910 in Algona, Iowa, where she was raised and educated. She married Ralph Shipler, her first husband died in 1955. She was united in marriage with Eugene Marti September 10, 1963 in Algona. The couple made their home in West Bend, Helen as a homemaker. Mrs. Marti died January 1, 1988 of a sudden heart attack at her home, reaching the age of 77 years. Survivors include her husband Eugene; one daughter, Mrs. Eldon, Beluah Thompson of Garner, Iowa, and three sons, Russell Shipler of Belle Plaine, Orie Shipler of Loveland, Colorado, and Erby Shipler of Algona, Iowa; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren survive, also one sister, Elizabeth Wolf of Algona, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her first husband, one sister and three brothers.
